1. What Voteable Does

Voteable is an informational technology platform designed to help people research elections, candidates, legislation, ballot measures, public policy, and political issues. Features may include questionnaires, personalized issue profiles, ballot breakdowns, candidate profiles, candidate-provided information, public-source and media links, legislative information, legislative summaries, candidate comparisons, legislative comparisons, personalized alignment analysis, and an AI-powered legislation research assistant.

Voteable is a research and information service. Voteable does not tell you how to vote and is not a government election authority, political party, campaign committee, law firm, or governmental agency.

2. Eligibility

You must be legally permitted to use the Service in the jurisdiction where you access it. Unless otherwise permitted by Voteable and applicable law, you must be at least 13 years old. Certain features may have additional age, geographic, identity, or verification requirements.

3. Accounts

Some features require an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information and keep it updated. You are responsible for protecting your credentials and for activity occurring through your account, except where applicable law provides otherwise. Notify Voteable promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

Voteable may require email verification, multifactor authentication, identity verification, or other security measures.

4. Account Security

You may not obtain another user's credentials, bypass authentication, access accounts you do not own, defeat security controls, obtain unauthorized administrative privileges, use automated tools to compromise accounts, or conduct credential stuffing, password spraying, brute-force attacks, or similar activity.

Voteable may suspend sessions or accounts when reasonably necessary to protect users, the Service, or Voteable's systems.

5. Your Questionnaire and Political Preferences

Voteable may ask questions concerning political, legislative, social, economic, governmental, or public-policy issues. Your responses may be used to provide personalized issue profiles, ballot research, candidate comparisons, legislative comparisons, alignment analysis, and related features.

Your individual questionnaire responses and political preferences are private by default. Voteable does not intend to publicly display your individual responses or provide them to candidates, campaigns, advertisers, or other users as individually identifiable political-preference information except as described in the Privacy Policy, with your authorization, or as otherwise permitted or required by law.

Voteable may create aggregate, statistical, de-identified, or pseudonymous information where permitted by applicable law and the Privacy Policy.

6. Ballot Breakdowns

Voteable may provide a "My Ballot," "Ballot Breakdown," or similar feature intended to identify elections, races, offices, candidates, and ballot measures relevant to you.

Ballot information may come from government records, election authorities, public sources, third-party data providers, location information, and other sources. Election information can change. Voteable does not guarantee that your ballot is complete, current, or legally authoritative.

You are responsible for confirming critical voting information, including registration status, eligibility, polling locations, deadlines, and ballot contents, with the appropriate official election authority.

7. Candidate Information

Voteable may display information about candidates from candidates, campaigns, authorized representatives, government records, public election records, candidate websites, social-media platforms, news organizations, public media, third-party data providers, and other publicly available sources.

Candidate-submitted information may be labeled "Candidate-provided." Voteable does not guarantee that candidate information is complete, current, accurate, unbiased, or representative of a candidate's complete views.

If information cannot be located or reliably aggregated, Voteable may show that information is unavailable.

8. Candidate Accounts and Verification

Candidates and authorized campaign representatives may register for Voteable and claim candidate profiles. Voteable may require verification before granting profile-management rights.

A "Verified Candidate" designation means only that Voteable has completed its applicable verification process. Verification is not an endorsement, recommendation, certification, or approval of a candidate.

Candidates may submit biographies, photos, statements, issue positions, priorities, websites, social links, videos, and other campaign information. Candidates may not alter official election data, modify another candidate's profile, modify Voteable's methodology or analysis, access voter information, or access individual voter questionnaire responses.

9. Candidate Representatives

A candidate may authorize campaign staff, employees, contractors, or other representatives to manage the candidate's Voteable profile. A representative represents that they have authority to act for the candidate or campaign. Voteable may request evidence of authorization and may revoke access when authorization is withdrawn, appears invalid, or security or policy concerns require removal.

10. Candidate Positions

Candidates may provide statements about political or policy issues. Voteable may associate statements with its issue categories. A position may be based on a direct candidate statement, candidate-provided information, a public source, or Voteable's classification methodology.

Where practicable, Voteable will identify the source or provide an explanation. Voteable does not guarantee that an issue classification perfectly captures a candidate's complete position.

11. Voteable Alignment Analysis

Voteable may compare your questionnaire responses with candidate statements, public information, legislative provisions, ballot measures, or other available information. Results may include "Strong alignment," "Alignment," "Mixed," "Potential mismatch," "Unknown," or "Insufficient information."

These results are analytical estimates, not statements of objective truth and not instructions about how to vote. Voteable may provide the underlying issue, user response, candidate statement, or legislative provision supporting an analysis where available.

12. Legislative Information

Voteable may provide information regarding bills, proposed or enacted legislation, votes, sponsors, co-sponsors, legislative provisions, policy subjects, legislative history, and public statements.

Legislative information may come from government records, public sources, third-party databases, or Voteable analysis. Legislative summaries are informational and are not legal advice or authoritative interpretations of law. The official legislative record controls if it conflicts with a Voteable summary.

13. AI Legislation Assistant

Voteable may provide an artificial-intelligence-powered conversational feature ("AI Legislation Assistant" or "Assistant") that allows users to ask questions about legislation, bills, ballot measures, public policy, candidates, governmental actions, or related political topics.

The Assistant may explain what a bill does, identify major provisions, discuss potential effects, explain sections, summarize arguments for and against legislation, compare current and proposed law, and answer other research questions.

14. AI Accuracy and Sources

AI-generated responses may contain errors, omissions, incorrect interpretations, outdated information, incomplete context, incorrect assumptions, hallucinated facts or sources, or incorrect predictions.

Where technically feasible, Voteable intends to ground legislative answers in legislative text, official legislative records, government data, or other authoritative source material and may provide citations or links. If information cannot be verified, the Assistant may communicate uncertainty.

The Assistant is not an authoritative source of law, legislation, election information, or legal interpretation. Users should review underlying legislation and authoritative sources before relying on important information.

15. Personalized AI Answers

You may ask the Assistant how legislation could affect you based on information you provide. Personalized answers may depend on assumptions and incomplete facts. The Assistant should distinguish known facts from potential effects and explain uncertainty.

The Assistant does not provide legal, medical, tax, financial, immigration, employment, or other professional advice. Do not rely on an AI response as a substitute for qualified professional advice.

16. AI Political Neutrality

The Assistant is designed to help users understand legislation rather than persuade them to support or oppose legislation. It should not intentionally favor a political party, candidate, or viewpoint or tell a user how to vote.

Where appropriate, the Assistant may explain documented arguments from supporters and opponents and distinguish those arguments from what the legislative text says. Voteable does not guarantee that every AI response will be free from error, bias, or disagreement.

17. AI and Your Voteable Profile

If you have completed a Voteable questionnaire, the Assistant may use your stated preferences to provide relevant explanations where you have enabled or requested personalization.

The Assistant should distinguish between your stated issue preference and your position on a specific bill. Discussing a topic in chat does not automatically change your questionnaire responses or political profile unless you expressly request such a change through an appropriate feature.

18. AI Conversation Privacy

If Voteable stores conversations with the Assistant, those conversations are subject to the Privacy Policy and applicable retention practices. Individual AI conversations are private user data by default. Candidates, campaigns, advertisers, and other users do not receive access to individual AI conversations or use them to identify another user's political preferences except as permitted by applicable law and the Privacy Policy.

You should avoid providing unnecessary sensitive personal information to the Assistant.

19. Third-Party AI and Service Providers

Voteable may use third-party AI, hosting, cloud, security, analytics, election-data, content, social-media, email, payment, or other providers to operate the Service. Depending on the feature and architecture, information submitted to Voteable may be processed by these providers as described in the Privacy Policy.

20. AI Quality and Security

Voteable may use automated testing, monitoring, human review, and other quality-control methods to identify inaccurate answers, missing citations, hallucinations, bias, prompt injection, malicious inputs, source-retrieval failures, and other reliability or security issues. Voteable may implement safeguards intended to prevent unauthorized disclosure, unauthorized actions, or exposure of private information.

21. Third-Party Content and Links

Voteable may link to candidate websites, social-media accounts, government websites, news organizations, videos, podcasts, articles, and other third-party services. Third-party websites and content are not controlled by Voteable and are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. A link does not constitute a Voteable endorsement.

22. User Content

Users may submit comments, feedback, correction requests, candidate information, profile information, and other content. You retain ownership of your original content and represent that you have the rights necessary to submit it.

23. License to User Content

By submitting content to Voteable, you grant Voteable a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, process, display, modify as technically necessary, distribute, and otherwise use the content as reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, improve, secure, and provide the Service and as otherwise described in the Privacy Policy.

For candidate-submitted public profile information, you authorize Voteable to display and distribute that information through its public-facing candidate research features.

24. Content Rules

You may not submit content that is unlawful, fraudulent, knowingly false or materially misleading, impersonates another person, infringes intellectual-property rights, violates privacy rights, contains malware or malicious code, attempts to manipulate Voteable systems, exposes private personal information, threatens violence, facilitates criminal activity, harasses or stalks others, attempts to expose another user's political preferences, misrepresents Voteable's endorsement, or violates applicable law.

Voteable may remove or restrict content that violates these Terms or applicable law.

25. Prohibited Uses

You may not use Voteable to obtain unauthorized access; bypass security; create fraudulent accounts; create fake candidate profiles; impersonate candidates; manipulate ballot information; manipulate Voteable alignment systems; identify individual users' political preferences; harvest user information; upload malicious software; interfere with Service operation; compromise another account; or obtain unauthorized privileges.

26. Political and Campaign Compliance

Users are responsible for complying with applicable election, campaign-finance, advertising, lobbying, and political-activity laws. Voteable does not guarantee that a particular use of the Service complies with laws applicable to a campaign, candidate, political committee, organization, lobbyist, or other regulated entity.

Additional agreements and disclosures may apply to paid political advertising, campaign tools, sponsored content, or other political services.

27. Sponsored and Paid Content

Voteable may offer paid services to candidates, campaigns, organizations, or advertisers. Paid or sponsored content may be identified as Sponsored, Paid, Advertisement, Promoted, Campaign-sponsored, or similar. Voteable will not intentionally represent paid placement as an independent Voteable endorsement.

28. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content, features, software, design, branding, logos, graphics, interfaces, databases, methodologies, and other materials are owned by or licensed to Voteable and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

Except as expressly permitted, you may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, sell, license, reverse engineer, create derivative works from, publicly display, or commercially exploit Voteable's proprietary materials.

29. Voteable Methodology

Voteable may develop proprietary methodologies for questionnaire scoring, issue classification, legislative analysis, candidate-position classification, alignment calculations, source evaluation, content organization, and other features. Voteable may provide explanations of results without disclosing proprietary source code, trade secrets, or confidential technical information.

30. Privacy

Your use of Voteable is also governed by the Voteable Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy explains information collection, use, sharing, security, retention, cookies and tracking technologies, user rights, and other privacy practices. The Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

If the Terms and Privacy Policy conflict regarding privacy practices, the Privacy Policy controls to the extent required by applicable law.

31. Data Security

Voteable uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information. No online system can be guaranteed completely secure. You should use strong credentials, enable MFA when available, protect your devices, and notify Voteable of suspected account compromise.

32. Payments and Subscriptions

Certain Voteable features may require payment. Prices, taxes, billing frequency, renewal, trial, cancellation, and refund terms will be disclosed before purchase as required by law. Payment processing may be handled by third parties. If subscriptions automatically renew, the applicable renewal terms and cancellation method will be provided before purchase.

33. Account Deletion

You may stop using the Service and may request deletion of your account, subject to the Privacy Policy and applicable legal or operational retention requirements. Voteable may revoke active sessions and remove or anonymize personal information as appropriate.

34. Suspension or Termination

Voteable may suspend, restrict, or terminate access for violations of these Terms, fraud, abuse, security threats, unauthorized access, illegal activity, harm to users or Voteable, legal compliance, or repeated policy violations. Where appropriate, Voteable may provide notice and an opportunity to appeal. Immediate suspension may occur when necessary to protect security, users, or the Service.

35. Corrections and Reports

Voteable may provide tools to report inaccurate election, candidate, media, or other information. Reporting an issue does not guarantee that Voteable will change the information. Voteable may request supporting documentation and may determine whether information should be corrected, supplemented, labeled, or removed.

36. No Professional Advice

Voteable does not provide legal, tax, financial, election-law, campaign-finance, governmental, medical, immigration, employment, or other professional advice. Information on the Service is for general informational and educational purposes.

37. Disclaimer of Warranties

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." VOTEABLE DISCLAIMS WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AVAILABILITY, RELIABILITY, COMPLETENESS, SECURITY, AND ERROR-FREE OPERATION.

Voteable does not warrant that the Service will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, secure, complete, current, or accurate, or that alignment or AI outputs will be correct or unbiased.

38. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VOTEABLE AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AFFILIATES, LICENSORS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO USE OF THE SERVICE.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VOTEABLE'S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO VOTEABLE FOR THE SERVICE DURING THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM OR $100.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited or excluded.

39. Indemnification

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Voteable and its officers, directors, employees, contractors, affiliates, licensors, and service providers from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses arising from your violation of these Terms, misuse of the Service, User Content, violation of another person's rights, violation of law, unauthorized account use, or unlawful political activity conducted through the Service.

40. Dispute Resolution

Any arbitration, class-action waiver, small-claims exception, venue, governing-law, or related dispute-resolution provisions applicable to your use of Voteable will be presented in accordance with applicable law. Where required, Voteable will obtain any legally required affirmative consent.

Unless otherwise required by law, disputes may be subject to binding individual arbitration rather than court proceedings. Certain rights may not be waived. Additional dispute-resolution terms may be provided where applicable.

41. Governing Law

Unless otherwise required by applicable law, these Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

42. Copyright and Intellectual Property Complaints

Voteable respects intellectual-property rights. If Voteable hosts user-generated content and receives a legally sufficient copyright-infringement notice, Voteable may remove or restrict access to the allegedly infringing material. Notices may be submitted to hello@voteable.org.

43. Children

Voteable is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children in circumstances where parental consent is required unless legally required mechanisms are in place. If you believe a child has provided personal information in violation of applicable law, contact Voteable.

44. Service Changes

Voteable may add, remove, modify, or discontinue features, data sources, algorithms, interfaces, or functionality. Voteable does not guarantee that any particular feature will remain available indefinitely.

45. Changes to These Terms

Voteable may update these Terms. For material changes, Voteable will provide notice appropriate to the circumstances. Where affirmative consent is legally required, Voteable will obtain it. Continued use after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law.

46. Electronic Communications

By using Voteable, you consent to electronic communications concerning your account, security, transactions, service updates, legal notices, support, and other operational matters. Marketing communications may have separate consent and opt-out mechanisms.

47. Feedback

If you submit suggestions, ideas, feature requests, or other feedback, Voteable may use that feedback without compensation or obligation to you, subject to rights that cannot lawfully be waived.

48. Beta Features

Voteable may make certain features available as beta, preview, experimental, or early-access features. Such features may contain errors, change, or be discontinued and may not have the reliability of generally available features.

49. Business and Political Organization Accounts

If you use Voteable on behalf of a campaign, political committee, PAC, advocacy organization, government organization, business, nonprofit, or other entity, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization. Additional agreements may apply.

50. API Access

If Voteable provides API access, users must comply with applicable documentation and usage limits. Unless expressly authorized, users may not scrape Voteable, circumvent rate limits, redistribute private Voteable data, build competing services using unauthorized access, or use APIs to identify individual users' political preferences.

51. Force Majeure

Voteable is not responsible for failure or delay caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, internet outages, cyberattacks, government actions, infrastructure failures, third-party provider outages, labor disruptions, war, civil unrest, or similar events.

52. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect to the maximum extent permitted by law.

53. Waiver

Failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of that provision.

54. Assignment

You may not assign these Terms without Voteable's written consent except where permitted by law. Voteable may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring, sale of assets, financing, or similar transaction.

55. Entire Agreement

These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and any additional agreements incorporated by reference constitute the agreement between you and Voteable regarding the Service. Additional terms may apply to specific features.

57. Acceptance

BY CREATING AN ACCOUNT OR USING VOTEABLE, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ AND AGREE TO THESE TERMS AND THE PRIVACY POLICY; UNDERSTAND THAT VOTEABLE PROVIDES INFORMATIONAL AND RESEARCH TOOLS; UNDERSTAND THAT VOTEABLE DOES NOT TELL YOU HOW TO VOTE; UNDERSTAND THAT BALLOT, CANDIDATE, LEGISLATIVE, MEDIA, AND AI-GENERATED INFORMATION MAY CONTAIN ERRORS OR BECOME OUTDATED; UNDERSTAND THAT ALIGNMENT RESULTS ARE ANALYTICAL OUTPUTS; AND UNDERSTAND THAT AI RESPONSES ARE NOT AUTHORITATIVE LEGAL INTERPRETATIONS.
